The Black Hare: Log #1
The Black Hare Log #1
This post was originally posted on my tumblr account on November 9, 2024.
Some starting info for my first log entry:
- The game has approx. 20k words so far.
- I’m currently writing/developing the Prologue.
Goals for end of month (Nov 2024):
- Release the
krakenPrologue!
Tiny snippet:
“I might be small, but I sure can pack a good punch.“
The comment surprises him, and he breaks into a rich chuckle. “Well, that’s all a person really needs to know how to do, I suppose.”

The experience so far:
I’ve learned so much already, just in the last couple of weeks since starting The Black Hare.
You might have seen me post a bit about making tiny IFs for a couple of game jams. Honestly, I don’t know what I was expecting going into those game jams, but the sheer amount of stuff I’ve learned while working on those tiny IFs has me so motivated and energized for The Black Hare that I cannot wait to release the Prologue and share the story with you!
Some of the stuff I’ve learned is probably just par for the course when it comes to IFs, but for me, it’s a big step forward. I’m also getting a little creative and working around my limitations, because there’s still so much I don’t know how to do, so much to learn.
As for the story itself, I’m still working out the rest of the plot beyond the Prologue. I have endings planned out, but I still need to figure out how the story is going to be structured in each ‘chapter’ of the game. I’m thinking maybe 4-5 chapters in total. Since this is my first IF game that I’m actually sharing, I want to keep it relatively small, but it should still be about half an hour of gameplay per chapter.
I’ll have some more solid updates with that regard for you in the next logs.
