☀️ NEW COVER REVEAL: Murder in Heliopolis
New Cover for Murder in Heliopolis, my solarpunk thriller! ☀️
On January 30th, I mentioned on my social media that I have a new cover for Murder in Heliopolis. Well, here is the official cover reveal!
Using this beautiful painting by an unknown painter circa 1925, which is marked as public domain, this cover features a beautiful garden scene with a riot of color and the looming shadow of skyscrapers in the background - shapes you will no doubt remember from the original cover, down below under the cut.
I have kept some of the original cover's font, which is called Economica, for the 'Murder in' part of the title. Economica is licensed as free for commercial and personal use.
The new font I'm using for 'Heliopolis' in the title is called Villagers (Regular). It's a font that's free for personal use; if ever I finish this book and decide to sell it, I'll have to remember to change that font! But for now, it's just for my non-commercial use 😊
I had hoped to be able to make my own cover, featuring my own art, but I'm unable to set up my tablet and old laptop at the moment, so we'll have just to wait a little until that happens. In the meantime, I'm in love with this beautiful cover, and I wish I knew who the artist was!
I also made a horizontal banner-style cover using Claude Monet's Banks of the Seine, Vétheuil, from 1880. It's a gorgeous landscape painting. When I first saw it, I was scrolling quickly, and thought the trees were silhouettes of skyscrapers. Of course, I added the far-away shapes of a city in the distance, keeping that link to the original cover for Murder in Heliopolis, which you can see below. Monet's painting is also classified as public domain.
☀️Let me know what you think!☀️
If you'd like to be added to the Murder in Heliopolis tag list, which I am opening on tumblr and IG, let me know.
