2024 Writing Goals
Hyba's 2024 Writing Goals
Alright, so I have to be honest with myself here. The last New Year's Writing Resolutions post I made? Absolute flop; I don't think I got any of that stuff done! I have a tendency to plan, plan, plan - and I plan so many things all at once, because it seems like, Yeah, sure, I could do all of that in this time period. No biggie.
Famous last words. As if I don't know my own patterns by now.
So, this time around, I'm going to keep it simple. I'm going to keep it light. I'm going to focus on what I know to be true and what I know I can handle, even on my worst days or at my lowest levels of productivity. And this is what I've come up with:
MONTHLY GOALS
- Host the Scareuary 2024 writing challenge (January)
- Plot Revamp! Murder in Heliopolis and Marie/Elise (February)
- Wrap up Season 3 of Hyba Is Writing: The Podcast (March)
- Start Season 4 of Hyba Is Writing: The Podcast (June)
- Host another writing challenge (July)
- Finalize the plan for Scrittorio Magazine, Issue 3 & open submissions (August)
- Interview 3 fiction writers for Scrittorio (August-October)
- Release Scrittorio Magazine, Issue 3 (November)
- Finalize plan for Scareuary 2025 writing challenge (November)
YEARLY GOALS
- Submit 5 pieces to literary magazines.
- Make at least 1 podcast episode per month (except on March, April, May).
- Complete one novel (possibly MiH or M/E).
Alright, I know what you're thinking. Because I'm kind of thinking the same thing. This is not keeping it light. This is not keeping it simple. But trust me on this. It'll be fine. I've got a whole year ahead of me. And if I can't shoot for the stars, what even is the point?
And, believe it or not, that up there is me being realistic. So. Let's just. Pretend like it's all going to happen. And maybe it will.
(Besides, if it's obviously not working out by the Islamic New Year, I'll just have to make new resolutions then! 😉)
