Ready to write some horror? February's right around the corner, and you know what that means! Join us this coming February to participate in Scareuary 2025! In this second edition of Scareuary, I've got a brand new selection of writing challenges and prompts. Whether you're a seasoned horror fiction writer or looking to dip your toes into the world of writing horror, this is the event for you. Scareuary 2025 events will include: M-m-monster!! - This challenge asks you to create a monster. Veer away from the well-trodden path of vampires, werewolves, ghosts, and other well-known monsters in the horror genre, and try to create a story that revolves around a monster that comes purely from your imagination. What terrors lie in wait for the hopelessly devoted? What fears consume the lovesick heart? What horrors w...
The Beast of Ildenwood 18. Thieves in the Night The Wanderer is a strange one. Shoja cannot help but feel wary of him. There is so little to know of him, so much that is unanswered, and he cannot overlook the simple facts of his arrival. He wonders if, perhaps, the Wanderer is purposefully hiding his information – if he has powers he has not shared with them. If that were the case, however, he would imagine that Lahab or Deletrear would have noticed. So, perhaps his story of not knowing who he is and where he has come from is n...
The Fall of the Black Masks is the first installment in my high fantasy series, The Qarran Tales . It's a story packed with action, intrigue, betrayal, friendship, secrets, family, and more. The story follows three main characters - Qays, Mila, and Ragnar - as they try to survive in an empire being terrorized by a criminal organization called the Black Masks, a deadly epidemic, and their own pasts. Ragnar has been on the run for almost two decades. When he finds himself on Death’s door, it is Qays and Mila who save him and treat his wounds. But Ragnar knows that those hunting him will stop at nothing to bring his severed head back to Vakkar and claim their prize, and the longer he stays with his gracious hosts, the more danger he fears they will be in. Qays , one of the most accomplished physicians in the empire, discovers an epidemic when his patients begin to show symptoms of an unfamiliar and deadly disease. Soon, he finds himself in a race against time to find a way of...
