Hyba Is Writing: The Podcast Season 3 Update

Hyba Is Writing: The Podcast - Season 3 Update When is season 3 coming out? I've been working on the third season of the podcast for a while. I got some new equipment that I was hoping to use to mitigate the wind noises that I was getting while recording outside (since I've been trying to keep up with the outdoor-recording tradition I set up at the start of this podcast), but to no avail. Well - the equipment works, but it creates other issues.  Ergo, I've decided to re-record (for, like, the seventh time) all of the episodes I've already recorded, and it's not going to be recorded outside. I may record some outdoor ambience to put in the background of my episodes, which is something I've had to resort to in the past when I couldn't record outside for whatever reason (rain, wind, etc.). The method works well, so I think that'll be the extent of that for now. So, that's what's going on. The third season of the podcast is coming - just not as quick

May 2022 Writing Update

May 2022 Writing Update - Gothic Fiction I have been working away on my (still-to-be introduced) gothic tale all month, and I'm excited to say that, though I've only reached a word count of about 11,000 words written, I am very much excited about this project in a way that I have not been excited about a project of mine in a while.  Yup, I'm still using these old graphics.   I want to keep things vague, so I won't delve too deeply into the subject matter of the book, but suffice it to say that I've been doing quite a bit of research, and I've been reaching into my own people's history and culture in order to write this novel. It is a take on the gothic fiction genre that I personally have not read before, and I am quite enjoying the creative freedom that comes with that, as well as the unique elements that I get to play around with.  So far, I've dedicated almost 24 hours into this project. I would say I am not even a thirtieth of the way done, so there

Review: United Heroes by Marzieh Meisami Azad and Yegane Khashkhashi Moghadam Today I'm reviewing something a little different: a short one-shot manga that deals with the struggle of a Muslim high-school hijabi who wants nothing more than to be a part of the volleyball team, but whose coach refuses to let her be on the team due to her hijab. The main character has to choose between her faith and her passion for volleyball. It's a very short, 5-minute read, so if you're looking for something to read while taking a quick break, do check it out! You can read the whole thing here for free . You can also find the artist's IG here (Marzieh Meisami Azad). Check out this gorgeous cover! The artist's IG handle is @marzieh_m70 so give her a follow if you enjoy her awesome art! 🎨 Overall Thoughts and Review I thought this sports manga had a superb art style, which definitely caught my eye right away. But I also enjoyed the storyline and how it was portrayed visually. I app

StoryADay May 2022 - Prompt #2

StoryADay May 2022 - Prompt #2 Didn't get a chance to do much writing today, what with Eid celebrations and all! But! I managed to complete the Day 2 prompt, which is awesome. I think it was my first time writing something only 100 words long. Here it is: The truth is, I should have jumped. She talked about the rings – how we didn’t need the rings – how we didn’t need much of anything at all, except each other. I was hesitant, like I’ve always been hesitant, and I waited for something – something – to help me make a decision. To make that decision for me. It’s what I’ve always done. It is my deepest flaw. My ugliest weakness. She wanted now, not later. I couldn’t jump; she was already off the ground. Gliding through the air, landing beside another, preparing to jump together. And I am alone. Indecisive. In case it might not have been clear from the story itself, the aphorism I chose to write about was "He who hesitates is lost." Hoping that tomorrow will be a day where

Review: 'Honeymoon With Death' - CBS Radio Mystery Theater

Review: 'Honeymoon With Death' - CBS Radio Mystery Theater An episode that deals with extreme gaslighting, ' Honeymoon With Death ' reminded me a lot of the movies 'The Amazing Mr. X' and 'The Dark Mirror'. (By the way, both of those black and white films are great movies that I highly recommend if you haven't watched them already!) The official CBS Radio Mystery Theater logo from their website .   Episode Plot (No Spoilers) A couple return home from their honeymoon, still glowing and happy and very much in love. The wife goes to change, and when she comes out, her husband has been stabbed in his chair. She runs out into the street to get help, and her sister, who lives in the apartment beneath, runs out after her and brings her back inside. The crime scene is empty. There is no trace of the husband. Everyone seems to think the wife made the whole thing up - dreamed it or imagined it - and her sister lets the police officer know that this isn't t
