[in]Sanity - Pre-Introduction

[in]Sanity

A psychological horror project

Back in December, I began working on a comic/graphic novel project called [in]Sanity, about a florist who lives in a town that has been overrun by a cult. Everyone has left Acton - everyone except for Corin, who stays in the small town for sentimental reasons. Corin becomes entangled in the cult's web, and learns horrifying secrets in the process. Facing down a town full of cult members, Corin must escape... or face a terrifying fate.

The story is currently in the scripting phase, so I decided to take a moment to do an early introduction while it takes shape.

I've made screenplay-type scripts before, but I've never made a script for a graphic novel. I dabbled in it when I was considering turning Marie/Elise into a graphic novel, but without must success there. What sets this project apart is the fact that [in]Sanity was created to be a graphic novel or comic, and thus the entire story was designed around that concept, with suspense-filled episodic 'chapters' and arcs.

I'm not a particularly skilled artist by any means, but I've been trying my hand at art for the first few panels to get a better idea of what my limitations are. In this way, the script is also designed around my own skills and limitations, so that the finished result isn't something horribly imbalanced.

The story is almost completely plotted out, with only the final sequence of chapters to complete. It's a fun story for me, because I've enjoyed designing the way it will feel and look in my mind, and I have high hopes for it. But I am also trying to be realistic, and as I know my own skills to be currently lacking, I don't think it'll be anywhere near ready to show for another year or two at least - and that is being generous.

Nevertheless, I'm excited to work some more on this project in 2022, and I look forward to learning how to make my digital art better so that I can create something I'm happy with.
