Neon Vape Worldbuilding: Gaming Glasses to Eliminate Eye Strain

Gaming Glasses to Eliminate Eye Strain - Buy Them Now!

A small note for those of you who are new to Neon Vape: A Vaporwave Odyssey - The book features a lot of advertising-themed elements both within and in its promotional content. It's a comment on aggressive marketing, perhaps. I'm not actually telling you to go out and buy yourself gaming glasses right this moment. 😎

Cover of Neon Vape: A Vaporwave Odyssey, a story in which a woman is trapped inside the virtual reality world of a game called Neon Vape.

The world of Neon Vape: A Vaporwave Odyssey is all about virtual reality, but it's also all about gaming and virtual experiences in general. As one can tell right away in the story, games are a big deal in Ramona's society, and as a result, many tech companies have created solutions to handle or offset the negative impacts of gaming for too long. Gaming glasses are one such way.

Gaming glasses in Neon Vape aren't shiny new things (neither are they in our world), but rather gaming essentials. They come with gaming consoles and are included in the package you purchase. Of course, they vary greatly from one console to the other, since different gaming consoles have different requirements. A VR headset usually already has built-in eye strain reducing hardware, for example - something which Ramona is going to be very thankful for when she gets stuck in the virtual reality world of the game, Neon Vape

But games that are played on a screen without the use of a headset are much more likely to require gaming glasses for players. After all, gaming is a huge industry - and still extremely lucrative in the fictional future that Neon Vape takes place in - and for that reason, keeping players engaged with the game for longer periods of time means that they'll be exposed to in-game purchases longer, and will probably buy more and play more since their eyes aren't getting strained.

You can probably guess that game addiction is a pretty big issue in the world of Neon Vape: A Vaporwave Odyssey. Virtual reality and gaming has become highly accessible, with hardware not nearly as expensive as it once was, and as a result more people are able to purchase consoles. Bombarded with aggressive marketing, it's easy to understand how some people can get hooked on the games so easily. Basically, the games & VR experiences are the new drugs of the age. (And maybe there's more to that than meets the eye...) Not that the big gaming companies care.

The pervasive presence of games and virtual reality experiences in Ramona's city make it one of the most isolating and alienating places to be, with everyone preferring to communicate with others via virtual worlds instead of in-person. Virtual reality has even spread to professional environments, with many offices now based in virtual spaces that can be accessed from home.

It might sound okay to be able to stay in your jammies and enter your workspace virtually every day - but after 8 hours hooked up to a VR console, you may think differently. It was near impossible for this to be implemented widely prior to the elimination of eye strain through the use of gaming glasses and the incorporation of the tech into gaming headsets.

So, with the use of some of the higher end gaming glasses, a person could potentially play a good ten hours in a row before their eyes start to feel strained. Although, honestly, if they do...

Well, eye strain might be the least of their worries.
